Hagan Elementary

Client Profile

Hagan Elementary School in Williston, North Dakota is one of seven Blue Ribbon Elementary Schools in the state. The recent oil boom in the area has the Williston Public School District #1 schools bursting with students; the district’s superintendent has made a rare plea for state help in building more classroom space. Enrollment in kindergarten through sixth grade has grown 30% in five years, and nearly 300 new students enrolled for the 2011 fall semester. Mobilease Modular Space worked with the District facilities team and DLR Group Architects to design/build an 8,600 sq. ft., 8-classroom, modular building at Hagan for occupancy in August 2011. The new modular building and one of its classrooms was shown during the opening “Boomtown” feature on Williston during NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams’ telecast on October 31, 2011.

Client Challenge

Williston is fast becoming host to job seekers from all 50 states. The city population has more than doubled to 23,000 during the past five years and it is expected to double again soon. There is a dire housing shortage in the area and more than 3,000 unfilled jobs await new families who are able to find housing. The district has been challenged to accurately forecast the rate of enrollment growth. In March, 2011 the Board of Education approved the use of a new modular building at Hagan Elementary for August 24, 2011 occupancy.

The Mobilease Solution

Mobilease provided turnkey space for 200 students including: the installation of the modular structure, foundations, walkways, fire alarm system, site utilities and landscaping. The classroom building is expected to remain at Hagan for 3 years or more. With an 8′ wide interior corridor and a 10′ wide x 30′ long modular connecting link, students pass freely between the structures in a climate controlled environment. Each 900 sq. ft. classroom includes: one restroom, 22′ long custom storage cabinets and wiring for technology including Smart boards. All interior walls, flooring, plumbing fixtures and door hardware are “school quality” to lower operation and maintenance costs. Each classroom has a standalone energy management controller to reduce annual utility costs and carbon dioxide sensing to assure excellent air quality.

If you need additional space, temporarily or permanently, our experienced staff can help you through the entire process, from design and planning to site work and installation. We provide turnkey services to make your project go smoothly.
